Barwick is a leading bathroom products distribution business based in the North of England, supplying a large customer base of bathroom retailers and plumbers’ merchants around the UK. Barwick distributes products from more than 20 mid-high end bathroom brands, including Burlington, Vitra and Geberit, as well as a growing own brand portfolio.
PMSI provided CDD on behalf of TPA Capital – a mid market private equity investor. Our work included market sizing of the UK bathroom market, assessment of Barwick vs major competitors, and referencing interviews with customers and suppliers. We also spent considerable time getting to understand distributors’ position in the bathroom products value chain, and evaluating associated risks including the threat of disintermediation by suppliers, and the impact of online bathroom retailers and bathroom buying groups on the market.
TPA Capital completed its acquisition of Barwick from its original founders John and Michael Barwick in March 2022. The investment will support the management team under CEO Gary Campbell to expand Barwick’s presence in new geographies as well as grow penetration in existing markets.
