Pyroguard manufactures and supplies high performance fire glass via architects, specifiers, contractors and construction professionals. The business’s core markets are the UK, France and the Netherlands and it is expanding internationally in markets such as Germany, Spain, Scandinavia.
PMSI provided vendor commercial due diligence (VCDD) to support NVM and Dunedin’s sale of Pyroguard. The work involved describing the complex specification and route-to-market process, which differed between cuttable and non-cuttable glass and also by market. Confirming the strong regulatory underpinning / growth drivers was also an important aspect of our work, as was sizing the market.
Pyroguard received an undisclosed equity investment from ESO Capital in September 2018. Since the initial transaction, PMSI have continued to work with ESO and the current management team under CEO Neil Tilsley in taking the business forward, providing support for both a bolt-on acquisition and market entry into a new geography.

Barwick is a leading bathroom products distribution business based in the North of England, supplying a large customer base of bathroom retailers and plumbers’ merchants around the UK. Barwick distributes products from more than 20 mid-high end bathroom brands, including Burlington, Vitra and Geberit, as well as a growing own brand portfolio.
PMSI provided CDD on behalf of TPA Capital – a mid market private equity investor. Our work included market sizing of the UK bathroom market, assessment of Barwick vs major competitors, and referencing interviews with customers and suppliers. We also spent considerable time getting to understand distributors’ position in the bathroom products value chain, and evaluating associated risks including the threat of disintermediation by suppliers, and the impact of online bathroom retailers and bathroom buying groups on the market.
TPA Capital completed its acquisition of Barwick from its original founders John and Michael Barwick in March 2022. The investment will support the management team under CEO Gary Campbell to expand Barwick’s presence in new geographies as well as grow penetration in existing markets.

Stroma is a leading provider of safety, sustainability and building compliance services to the UK construction sector, employing c.350 people across 14 regional offices. As well as being one of the largest private building control inspectors in the UK, Stroma’s services include certification and lodgement services for energy assessors and environmental and energy consultancy for the design, planning and construction stages of the building lifecycle.
PMSI provided VCDD on behalf of Stroma’s management team and its investors LDC (a mid market private equity firm). Our work included validating the size of Stroma’s addressable market through a number of methodologies, understanding the complex regulatory environment and competitor landscape, and a full customer referencing exercise. In addition, PMSI assessed opportunities for Stroma resulting from the new Building Safety Bill, which will significantly increase the safety compliance burden for the construction and property sectors in the coming years.
The business was acquired from LDC by Phenna Group – a private equity backed TICC platform - in February 2022. The investment will support Stroma to further expand its customer base in the UK and enhance its portfolio of services.

London Offshore Consultants (LOC Group) are a leading marine and engineering consultancy firm, operating in the shipping, oil & gas and renewables sectors. LOC provides loss prevention (marine warranty, surveys, inspections & audits, technical due diligence), loss management (marine casualties, claims, disputes and litigation) and marine and engineering consultancy services across a global network of over 30 offices.
PMSI provided vendor commercial due diligence (VCDD) to support Bridgepoint’s sale of LOC. A key aspect of our work involved presenting the business’s complex mix of service lines and end-sectors, as well as sizing technically complex markets in a way that was sufficiently detailed, while easily digestible for both private equity and trade bidders. We worked closely with LOCG management throughout the process to achieve this aim.
LOC was acquired by AqualisBraemar, an Oslo-listed group that offers consultancy services to the offshore energy industries. The group’s strategy is to grow through continued expansion in the rapidly growing offshore renewables industry, and leverage on its position within shipping and oil and gas markets, to support the global energy transition.
